The small archipelago includes the islands of San Domino, San Nicola, Capraia and Pianosa. It condenses beautiful sites such as crags, cliffs, grottoes, bays, rocks and reefs.
Once used as a refuge by Saracen and Dalmatian pirates and corsairs, it became a convict settlement during the reign of the Bourbons. In 1989 it was turned into a Protected Marine Sanctuary and has been part of the National Park of the Gargano since 1996.
